A module for patterns
A module that can be used to generate patterns (by translation of reflection in the sides of the square) in a Roman mosaic. The module is a rosette of type C4. Exhibit of matemilano.
You can compare the photo of the real paving obtained with this module, which is at the Domus dell'Ortaglia in Brescia, and the image of the same paving obtained by putting the same module in a square room of mirrors. The two pavings are different because the original pattern has no axes of symmetry, so it can't be reproduced in a room of mirrors.
